Hi, my name is Richard Arthur and I'm calling from Castro Valley, CA
Congressmen Alan Grayson and Mark Takano just released a letter promising to vote against any bill that cuts Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security benefits. They're asking their colleagues to join them.
As a constituent, I would like Rep. Swalwellto sign on to Rep. Grayson's letter today. Nothing is more important than voting against cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security benefits.
Can you tell Rep. Swalwell that I want him to sign Congressmen Grayson and Takano's letter today?

Let me give you the name and email of the staffer to contact in Rep. Grayson's office. Matt Stoller,

I wish to clarify the strength of your committment. Can you please tell your Legislative Director I want Rep. Swalwell to specifically sign Alan Grayson's letter? It is the only one that vows to vote against any bill that cuts Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits. No other letter does that.

Thank you.

Richard Arthur, Castro Valley Resident, Eric Swalwell Congressional District

I see that your designated area of interest is with the Veteran’s Administration and retired soldier’s benefits, ane am hopeful that your office may help us in our efforts to seek fair treatment and justice on behalf of my client.Thank you for looking into this matter for us.

K-3 Visa/Permanent Resident Visa

Applicant: Sayfon P. Hoche,

Spouse of U.S. Citizen

The Honorable John Kerry

Secretary of State Designate

Department of State

Foggy Bottom

Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Secretary,

I am writing you as a former member of the Armed Forces on behalf of a fellow retired military senior citizen, Mr. Ralph Hoche, 87 year old retired Air Force (formerly Army Air Corps) who is legally married to a lady (Mrs. Sayfron Pholthip Hoche) whose national origin is Thailand. Mrs. Hoche presently resides in Bangkok and is awaiting State Department final approval (or denial) of her visa application request. This is the second such inquiry which this office has made on behalf of our client (prior communication has been made one year ago with your predecessor, the Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton, as well as Congresswoman Jackie Speier of San Mateo County and Senator Diane Feinstein of California). Unfortunately, since the year of our prior inquiry (copy attached) no action has been forthcoming from the United States Embassy in Bangkok, even though all requested documents and interviews have been completed and submitted through the Department of Homeland Security and the host Embassy in Bangkok. During the original request submitted by this office, the issue of medical hardship on the part of our client, Mr. Hoche, was enunciated as visual impairment with cataract surgery as the imperative for caregiver assistance needed on the part of Mrs. Hoche (nee: Sayfon Pholthip).

At this point, while my client, Mr. Hoche, who is fully alert and has sharp cognitive capability in his independent living skills, is still under medical hardship due to his advanced years, the more paramount concern is his wish for personal companionship with his wife, and we are hopeful that your new appointment by President Barack Obama will assist in the timely resolution of our client’s request for his wife to obtain the much desired visa to transit to his side here in California. While we are cognizant of the many new responsibilities which now fall before you in these times of international challenge, we also are mindful of the human rights dictum: “Justice delayed is justice denied.” You may wish to consult with the personnel staff at the Bangkok Embassy, with whom we understand rests the final decision to approve or deny the visa request of our client’s wife to be reunited with her husband. We are hopeful that your inquiry may spur that office to make a decision — some decision, whether yea or nay — rather than allowing the application process to continue to mire in limbo for an unforeseen time span into the future, all the while knowing that as our high school Latin would have it, “Tempus Fugit,” and that Mr. Hoche’s remaining time on this planet should be spent at the side of his loved one here in his own home in California.

With All Good Wishes for a Successful Secretaryship,
